A Newcastle resident’s world could be turned upside down in the most incredible way if they check their Set for Life ticket from last night’s draw and discover they’ve won $4.8 million.

The mystery player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Set for Life draw 2274, drawn Wednesday 27 October.

They take home the prize of $4.8 million, paid in instalments of $20,000 a month for 20 years.

It’s the second Set for Life division one prize to land in Newcastle this month.

Both entries are unregistered, which means officials from The Lott have no way of contacting the winners to break the life-changing news.

Instead, they’re waiting for the ticketholders to come forward to claim their prize.

Last night’s winning entry was purchased at Waratah LPO & Newsagency, Shop 9 Waratah Shopping Village, 91 Turton Road.

Owner Michael Phillips said he was proud to have made one of his customers Set for Life.

“What a win,” he exclaimed.

“It’s incredible news. We can’t wait for this player to check their ticket and discover this exciting news.

“We’ve been encouraging all of our players to check their tickets in the hopes we can unite this winner with their prize as soon as possible.

“All of our customers have been so excited and hoping they’re next to win big.”

On Saturday 9 October, another Newcastle player scored division one in Set for Life draw 2256.

This prize has also yet to be claimed.

The winning entry was purchased at Nina’s IGA Hamilton, 73 Beaumont Street, Hamilton.

The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said she was eager to unite both of Newcastle’s elusive Set for Life winners with their prizes.

“Imagine how your plans for the rest of the year would change if you scored Set for Life,” she exclaimed.

“Your Christmas might look a little different with a hefty boost to your bank account.

“Players have told us they have found their winning entries hiding in plain sight on the fridge door or tucked inside their wallet.

“So, if you purchased a Set for Life division one winning entry at Waratah LPO & Newsagency or Nina’s IGA that you haven’t checked yet, make sure you do because you could be the winners we are searching for.

“If you realise you’re holding a winning ticket, hold on tight to it and give us a call immediately on 131 868 to confirm your win and start the prize claim process.”

The Lott reminds players of the importance of registering their tickets to a player card or online account so their prizes are secure, and they can be contacted directly if they win division one.
