Organisers have made the agonising decision to postpone the annual Trackmasters meeting at Eagleton this weekend.
The two-day event, to be presented by Port Stephens Council and Chris Watson Motorsports, was due to take place at the Barleigh Ranch Raceway, just off the Pacific Highway, on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 March.
But, the Hunter Motorcycle Club committee wisely opted to err on the side of caution following the recent storm activity.
“The heavy rain, which has already fallen and the forecast of more to come, would have left officials with no time to prepare the track,” Peter Baker said.
“And, that’s if it stops raining [this week].
“It’s disappointing as the event, which includes the Golden Helmet Challenge, had already attracted almost 100 riders.
“Thankfully, we’ll be able to give them plenty of notice about the postponement.
“The Hunter Motorcycle Club will now try to find a new date for the meeting later in the year.”
