Another record crowd is expected to converge on McDonald Jones Stadium when the Women’s State of Origin lands in town in 2024.

The National Rugby League (NRL) released tickets for all eight games, men’s and women’s as well as under-19s, on Thursday 8 February, with interest extremely high in the maiden showdown in Newcastle.

Knights’ NRLW players appear certain to figure prominently when the respective teams are announced for the NSW Blues and Queensland Maroons, adding extra interest to the Hunter fixture on Thursday 6 June.

From Tamika Upton to Yasmin Clydsdale, Caitlan Johnston to Olivia Higgins, and the Southwell sisters – Hannah and Jesse – to name a handful, Newcastle should be rewarded for its brilliance in winning back-to-back premierships over the past two seasons.

“I believe the city, and community, deserves the right to stage it,” Clydsdale said recently.

“Newcastle is a rugby league town, there’s no doubting that.

“I’m sure everyone will support it, especially being a rep match.

“And, hopefully, we can put on a good show and do justice to the State of Origin concept.”

For the first time, the women will contest a best-of-three series, with the men’s and women’s under-19 matches returning, too.

The action begins with the Women’s State of Origin on Thursday 16 May at Suncorp Stadium, then Newcastle before the series concludes at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville on Thursday 27 June.

Tickets start at just $15 for adults and $35 for families.

A new chapter in Men’s State of Origin kicks off with game one at Sydney’s Accor Stadium on Wednesday 5 June, before a return encounter at the MCG on Wednesday 26 June.

It draws to a close at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium on Wednesday 17 July.

Tickets for the men’s series start at $49 (adults) and $137 (families).

The next generation of NRL and NRLW stars will get their chance to shine in the Under-19 State of Origin matches, which return to Leichhardt Oval on Thursday 20 June.

All tickets are available from nrl.com/tickets.

To truly elevate the Origin experience, NRL Hospitality packages for are also on sale via nrl.com/hospitality.
