Following several reports of attempted break and enters in Merewether, three people will face court for alleged property offences.
It comes after officers attached to Newcastle City Police District were called to Scenic Drive about 3.30am on Friday 13 June.
Subsequent inquiries revealed a group tried to access numerous homes and cars on Myamblah Crescent, Woodward Street and Scenic Drive.
A short time later, during a patrol of the area, police approached a vehicle parked on Scenic Drive when three males absconded.
They caught one man, 24, who also possessed a knife and cannabis.
He was issued a Court Attendance Notice (CAN) and is due to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 3 July.
Following a further investigation, the same man attended Waratah Police Station about 12.30pm on Tuesday 17 June.
There, he was arrested and charged with three counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner; two counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence; and destroy or damage property.
He was granted conditional bail to front Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 3 July.
Operation Soteria police then executed a search warrant at a home in Cessnock about 2.45pm on Tuesday 17 June.
A 16-year-old boy and 19-year-old man were arrested and escorted to Cessnock Police Station.
The younger of the two was indicted with three counts of steal motor vehicle; two counts of aggravated break and enter dwelling etc in company steal; and larceny.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before a children’s court on Monday 23 June.
The 19-year-old was charged with two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen; drive conveyance taken without consent of owner; and possess prohibited drug.
He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Cessnock Local Court on Tuesday 1 July.
