Jump N Swim Academy in Thornton has revealed the “worst news ever” to its staff, students and families.

In a social media post the business let everyone know two positive cases of COVID-19 visited the site this week.

“I am so so sad to advise that we have had a call from Hunter New England Health to advise that we have had two cases attend our centre on Wednesday 4 August between 5pm and 5:30pm,” the post said.

“Any children, guardians and or staff that were in the pool or on pool deck at this time will be considered as close contacts and will need to be tested and isolate for 14 days.

“Anyone else who was in front reception will be considered as a casual contact and will also need to be tested and isolate until a negative result is given.

“Any children, guardians or staff who were at the centre between 4:30pm and 5pm and 5:30pm and 6pm are considered casual contacts – you will need to be tested and isolate until a negative result is given.”

Casual contacts will need to be retested next Monday 9 August and the swim school will remain closed for two weeks to allow staff to isolate.

“This is the worst news ever and we hope that the children who were tested positive are ok and get well soon,” the academy said.

Anyone with cold or flu-like symptoms such as fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath, is urged to get tested.

Even those with mild symptoms such as fatigue, new muscle aches or pains, a change in taste or smell or a new runny nose are encouraged to arrange testing.

There are more than 410 testing clinics open across NSW. For a complete list and booking details, please visit: health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/Pages/clinics.aspx
