Thornton man left breathless after $1 million Weekday Windfall

“You’re my new best friend!” a Thornton man declared to a Lott official after becoming an instant millionaire last week.

The Maitland resident held one of the three division one winning entries in the Weekday Windfall, drawn on Wednesday 22 May.

Each winner pocketed a cool $1 million.

“I woke up this morning at 4.30 and saw an email as I was leaving for work telling me I’d won big,” the man explained.

“When I checked the ticket: ‘Wow! It’s wonderful’.

“That is life-changing.

“I’m short of breath from the excitement of it all.”

The jubilant victor admitted being a millionaire had “a nice ring to it”.

“I can say goodbye to the mortgage… and there will be a nice little nest egg left over,” he said.

“I’m a few years away from retirement, but this might enable me to bring my retirement closer.

“I’ve been playing these numbers for decades.

“They’re family birthdates and numbers like that.

“I nearly stopped playing them recently as they hadn’t won anything.

“I’m glad I didn’t.”

The winning numbers in Weekday Windfall draw 4393 were 3, 32, 21, 36, 20 and 16, while the supplementaries were 35 and 43.

Across Australia, there were three successful entries, one each in Queensland, New South Wales and Western Australia.

The Lott’s division one winning tally has now reached 373 so far in FY24, including 126 won by NSW Lotteries customers.

There are more chances to win big with Tuesday’s Oz Lotto offering $40 million, while Thursday’s Powerball has $4 million up for grabs.
