SHARE

A man has been rescued after suffering injuries sustained from a mishap near Newcastle’s Bogey Hole on Thursday afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene about 2.30pm on 9 January.

According to NSW Ambulance, the male – originally thought to be of high school age but later confirmed to be in his 60s – was winched to safety by a rescue helicopter from a hard-to-reach location on the rocks.

It’s understood he sustained injuries to his lower legs, while on an isolated rock ledge, and was treated by specialist paramedics at the time.

Multiple ambulances were sent to the location, as well as police and fire rescue personnel.

The man, cold and wet but relieved, has since been taken to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
