It wasn’t a happy start to the New Year for one teenager following a jet ski accident at Lake Glenbawn on Saturday.
At about 6.45pm on 1 January, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) was tasked by NSW Ambulance to the popular Upper Hunter tourism spot, east of Scone.
Local paramedics and the chopper’s Critical Care Medical Team treated and stabilised a 14-year-old female pillion passenger.
It is believed the girl fell off the back of the jet ski, landing awkwardly in the water.
She suffered serious pelvic and femur injuries.
The youngster was then airlifted to John Hunter Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.
