A teenage girl has been arrested over the assault of another girl which was filmed and uploaded on social media.
At about 10pm on Friday 9 April, several people attended a party in Aroona Street at Edgeworth when a 17-year-old girl left.
While walking in Aroona Street she became involved in an argument with a group of people.
It is alleged she was approached by another female who began punching her to the head and torso.
Police will further allege the assault was filmed by another teen and later uploaded on a social media platform.
The assault was reported to police and officers from the Lake Macquarie Police District commenced an investigation into the incident.
At about 8.30am this morning, Wednesday 14 April, a 15-year-old girl was arrested. She will be dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
Investigations are ongoing.
