‘Take two’ for Bar & BBQ Festival organisers

SHARE

It’s “take two” for organisers of the Hunter Events Bar & BBQ Festival after cancelling the extravaganza at the weekend.

Recent flooding in Maitland, and surrounding areas, forced the event’s postponement on 16 and 17 July, with a new date now locked in for 21 and 22 January at the Maitland Showground.

“It was disappointing to make that call, but necessary following all the rain,” director Louise Manning said.

“The decision wasn’t made lightly either.

“We explored every possible avenue with our partners and key stakeholders to whom Hunter Events Group would like to, again, express gratitude for their understanding, patience and continued support.

“According to Maitland City Council, government and local officials, the recovery and repair effort is due to take three-to-four months to have our region return to normal.

“So, given the extent of the impact, rescheduling the Bar & BBQ Festival will enable us to provide an even better experience that our customers, partners and team expect and deserve, in a safe environment.

“All ticketholders should expect to receive direct communication from Oztix regarding the automatic transfer of their tickets over to the new dates.

“In the meantime, our thoughts are with all those who have been impacted by the recent flooding as they navigate these testing times.

“We wish them all the best as they repair, rebuild and recover.”

Ms Manning said she was excited the Bar & BBQ Festival would return in 2023.

“In another positive, all of our key stakeholders will be in attendance, too,” she explained.

“That includes The Hot Wheels Stunt Team, Aussie FMX Motocross, Paul Bennet Airshows, our BBQ competitors, amusements, fireworks, ‘live’ demonstrations and entertainment.

“Everyone is expected to be there bigger and better than before.

“So, it’s going to be one epic summer weekend.”
