Tag for a Tag: Dog owners to show their best side

SHARE

If you think your dog is Insta-worthy Cessnock City Council is offering you a chance to prove it.

In a bid to promote responsible pet ownership, ranger’s at the Hunter Valley gateway city have launched ‘Tag for a Tag’ photo competition, encouraging owners to submit a snap of their pooch’s collar for a prize.

For the next month dog owners in the Hunter LGA will have the chance to win one of 40 Cessnock City Council branded dog tags engraved with their pet’s name and contact details, ensuring a safe return if they get lost.

To enter, owners are asked to take a photo of their dog, post it to Instagram, tag @CessnockCityCouncil and use the hashtag #PuppersOfCessnock – (make sure your privacy setting is ‘Public’).

The competition, which kicks off today (Tuesday 9 November) will run to Thursday 9 December.

Forty winners will be chosen and notified by Tuesday 14 December.

Cessnock City Council general manager Lotta Jackson said Council’s Ranger team worked tirelessly to educate residents about responsible pet ownership, and encouraged local dog owners to get involved in the initiative.

“Dogs are cherished members of the family and collars with tags are the best thing to have your furry friend returned home promptly if they get lost,” she said.

“It’s also a legal requirement to wear them in a public place.

“We find that most people, if they find a dog, will first look for a phone number to return to the owner directly before calling the Ranger or taking them to the RSPCA.”
