A stolen vehicle was pursued by local police on Wednesday morning in a chase that spanned across multiple Newcastle suburbs.
Officers from Newcastle City Police District attempted to stop a dark-coloured BMW X6 at about 10.15am on 3 September.
The vehicle had reportedly been taken from a business in Basswood Crescent in Fletcher around 9.30am that same morning.
When the driver failed to obey the police directive, a pursuit was initiated.
It continued Fletcher to Jesmond, according to witness reports, and was eventually stopped on Glebe Road in Hamilton South.
The male driver then fled from the BMW and ran into a nearby block of units.
However, a search of the area failed to locate him.
No charges have been laid yet.
The vehicle has since been seized for forensic examination.
Police are urging anyone with information about the matter or who was in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage to contact Newcastle Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
