Spiegeltent brings its latest instalment LIMBO-The Return

SHARE

If you’ve never been under the Spiegeltent at Newcastle’s Civic Park, it’s time you did – that is, if you’re an adult with a cheeky sense of humour.

Under the cover of a temporary circus-like setting, your senses will go into overload as you witness acts of athleticism, comedy and raunchiness taking place all around you.

Spiegeltent presents LIMBO – The Return at Newcastle’s Civic Park.

From acrobats swinging above you, to characters playing with fire in front of you.

Your mind just might struggle to keep up with the seemingly interactive entertainment that surrounds you.

While the former steel city has welcomed the sauciness of Blanc de Blanc, and the outrageously entertaining The Party in the past year, this time it’s all about Spiegeltent’s LIMBO – The Return.

Spiegeltent is back.

And, since the season launched on 3 April, Newcastle audiences have been falling in love with the latest instalment too, with shows quickly selling out.

Described by its creators as “a mesmerising reimagining of its award-winning circus extravaganza”, this edition promises more eye-watering stunts and sauciness, again featuring an international cast of circus luminaries.

Set in an other-worldly realm, LIMBO – The Return combines a fresh and intoxicating mix of cabaret, circus, acrobatics and ecstatic heart-pounding live music.

Spiegeltent guarantees “a high-powered extravaganza”.

Strut & Fret creative director, Scott Maidment says “Audiences will be whisked away to a sinister netherworld of gut-churning contortion, breath-taking acrobatics, and jaw-dropping stunts.

“This is a high-powered extravaganza that leaves you gasping for breath, dancing in the aisles, and shedding a tear.”

The cast brings together a host of wildly hypnotic, world-renowned circus performers and prolific musicians; led by composer and New York’s Jank maestro, Sxip Shirey.

Sydney musician Mick Stuart joins the ensemble with irreverent electro-acoustic noise and playfully, sexy beats.

Spiegeltent’s LIMBO – The Return reaches Newcastle.

Sxip’s haunting ethereal melodies are delivered via an eclectic collection of rare instruments including Ukrainian jaw harps, siren whistles, megaphones, industrial flute and a glass harmonica.

LIMBO – The Return will unleash circus darlings including Bulgaria’s stunning Maria Moncheva (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – Germany); French gravity-defying Chinese pole master, beatboxer and clown, Mikael Bres (Cirque Du Soleil, La Clique); Australia’s acrobatic dancing sensation Hilton Denis; and daredevil Spanish acrobat and slackrope virtuoso David Marco.

Presented by Strut & Fret, LIMBO – The Return will be in Newcastle until 5 May.

Rated R, this show is for audiences aged 15 and older.
