SKY’s the limit for Newcastle development

SHARE

One of Newcastle’s largest, and most iconic, residential developments throughout the city’s recent revitalisation is now complete.

Stage two of the SKY Residences, consisting of 73 luxury apartments, has officially received its Occupation Certificate (OC) and successful strata registration.

The nine-storey building is positioned alongside the 19-storey, 66m tall tower, which was realised as part of the opening phase of the project in late 2021.

Managing director Jonathan Craig said the finished product represented a significant milestone for local developer and builder GWH.

“It has been incredible to watch our plans for this site come to life over the past few years,” he explained.

“SKY Residences is our largest residential project undertaken to date.

“To successfully deliver such an iconic new development to the Newcastle skyline is truly a phenomenal achievement and one we are all immensely proud of.”

Construction of Sky Residences began in October 2019, with the team persevering through some of the toughest operating conditions experienced in recent memory, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

But, despite these challenges, they managed to keep the development on track, successfully topping out the 19-storey stage one tower in May 2021 before achieving its Occupation Certificate seven months later.

“All 189 apartments were sold prior to the project’s completion, demonstrating the continued appetite for apartment living within the Newcastle market,” Mr Craig said.

Designed to allow residents to take full advantage of the inner-city lifestyle its location encourages, SKY Residences includes an array of incredible resident-only facilities including a pool, gym and the rooftop SKY Lounge, a luxurious indoor/outdoor entertaining space providing panoramic views over the CBD and beyond.

“As Newcastle locals, we have a deep understanding of the lifestyle aspects Novocastrians desire to amplify the incredible living experience this city provides,” Mr Craig said.

“The feedback from our stage one purchasers has been fantastic.

“I can’t wait for stage two purchasers to experience all that this iconic, new destination has to offer.”

The Hunter-based company, boasting more than 25 years of experience, is currently working on other notable projects including Newcastle’s ONE Apartments and Charlestown’s Macquarie Tower, with construction to begin on both by the end of 2022.
