Six minutes to style

Chaotic school mornings leave Aussie mums with just 20 minutes to get ready for the day, according to new research commissioned by Big W.

“Walking, feeding, dressing, and getting kids out the door and to school on time is no mean feat,” Big W’s Head of Him & Her Apparel, Belinda Grice, said.

Helping busy mums maximise their 20 minutes of ‘me’ time – only six of which are dedicated to choosing an outfit and getting dressed – Big W enlisted the help of celebrity stylist, Donny Galella, to share his time-saving wardrobe tips:

1. Meal plan? Now outfit plan! Just like meal prepping on a Sunday, organising outfits for the week will save time and reduce stress. If you can’t commit to the entire week, at least plan tomorrow’s outfit the night before.

2. Everyday essentials. Have a trusty go-to outfit that requires no thought to pull together, like a crisp, white shirt, jeans and a black blazer. With all the basics organised, simply add a new-season trend item for an instant update.

3. One item three ways. Versatile items that can be worn multiple ways throughout the week are an absolute time-saving winner. Button through utility dresses are one of the hottest trends this season and can be dressed up with a belt, bag and heels, or worn open as a long shirt, layered over pants or jeans.

4. One-piece wonders. Not only are they insanely easy to wear, jumpsuits also take all the guesswork out of matching separates. Style differently using accessories and dress up or down with casual sandals or strappy heels.
