It may be school holiday time… but construction continues along M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace this week.
That’ll mean several changed overnight traffic conditions.
There will be extended stops (up to 20 minutes) as signage is installed over the eastbound lanes of the John Renshaw Drive/New England Highway between 10pm and 6am on Monday 6 July.
Motorists are advised to plan for delays and take alternative routes where possible.
The westbound slip lane from John Renshaw Drive will also be closed and traffic detoured via the New England Highway and Anderson Drive off-ramp on the night of Tuesday 7 July between 7pm and 5am.
Further extended stops (up to 20 minutes) are slated from 10pm to 6am on Tuesday 7 July for the installation of signage over the eastbound lanes of the New England Highway.
Meanwhile, southbound M1 Pacific Motorway traffic will be diverted onto the northbound carriageway of the M1 (contraflow arrangement) at the John Renshaw Drive/Weakleys Drive intersection on the nights of Thursday 9 July and Friday 10 July, between 7pm and 5am, for asphalting.
During this time, there’s no access to Lenaghans Drive from the southbound lanes of the M1.
Major work resumes across the project, too, from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday; 8am to 5pm on Saturday; and from 7pm to 5am Monday to Friday nights.
It’ll will also require lane closures and contraflow with intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h at the following locations and times:
From 7pm to 5am, on the nights of Monday 6 July until Friday 10 July
- M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
- John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
- New England Highway at Tarro
- Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae
From 7am to 5pm, from Monday 6 July until Friday 10 July
- Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill
- Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago
- New England Highway Eastbound at Tarro
Operators of Over-Size and/or Over-Mass vehicles with a ground contact wider than 3.2 metres or with overall width greater than 4.5 metres are advised to contact the project team on 0423 323 946 at least one day ahead of proposed movement.
Significant delays can occur if they fail to do so.
Pacific Highway, Heatherbrae
Motorists are advised of changed overnight traffic conditions on the Pacific Highway at Heatherbrae, 30 metres from Hank Street, while work is carried out.
Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is carrying out the project on 300 metres of the highway, which includes road resurfacing.
To minimise any impacts, it’ll take place between 6pm and 3.30am from Tuesday 7 July over three nights.
Traffic control, including a southbound single lane closure and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h, will be operational for the safety of everyone.
OSOM vehicles can be accommodated and managed on arrival to the site via UHF Channel 19.
Stroud Hill Road, Dungog
Essential maintenance is planned along Stroud Hill Road at Cooreei Bridge, Dungog.
It means TfNSW will close Cooreei Bridge from 7am to 5pm, for up to one week from Monday 6 July to Friday 10 July, to allow the installation of temporary piling support.
The bridge is expected to reopen to all traffic outside of these hours.
During the closure, light vehicles will be detoured via Alison Road, Clarence Town Road, Mary Street and Dowling Street, adding about 30 minutes to journeys.
Emergency services need to use the detour, too.
Heavy vehicles travelling towards Stroud will travel in one direction along Fosterton Road, which is expected to add approximately 40 minutes travel time.
Those heading towards Dungog and Clarence Town will travel in one direction along Alison Road.
That is likely to add about 30 minutes to travel time.
