Freedom of Entry

About 25 officers and sailors from the Royal Australian Navy will march through the streets of Maitland on Saturday 2 April as the HMAS Maitland prepares to be decommissioned.

It will start at The Levee’s Shared Zone at 10am and will finish at the Maitland Regional Art Gallery. For more information, visit maitlandevents.com.au/freedom-of-entry

Trailer Boat Fishing Tournament

The Club Marine Trailer Boat Fishing Tournament at D’Albora Marinas, Nelson Bay this weekend (Friday 1 to Sunday 3 April) is perfect for the whole family to enjoy.

Newcastle Writers Festival

Maitland Succulent, Cacti and Plant Market

Maitland and Beyond Family History Inc will once again be hosting its Succulent, Cacti and Plant Market this weekend.

The event offers gardeners plenty of variety with succulents, cacti, indoor and garden plants available. Come along and grab a bargain or purchase a ticket in the raffle.

There will be local honey for sale, as well as coffee, BBQ food and cold drinks. Join in the fun and treat your green thumb to a morning out at the markets.

Bruce Mathiske Guitar Artistry

World-acclaimed guitar sensation Bruce Mathiske, together with percussionist and artist Adam Manning, is set to take you on a musical and visual journey at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC) this Saturday.

Incorporating influences from the likes of JS Bach, The Rolling Stones, original pieces and well-known classics, the production will be a feast combining fiery fretwork, tender melodies and exciting rhythms from the only virtuoso guitar/didgeridoo player in the world.

Manning will join Mathiske on stage and draw upon his Indigenous heritage and create a painting, which will evolve over the evening and be given away to an audience member at the end of the concert.
