One of Newcastle’s favourite acts, The Screaming Jets, are set to soar back into the region next month.
Within weeks of appearing at The Hunter TAB meeting at the Newcastle Racecourse, Dave Gleeson and the boys – Jimi Hocking, Scott Kingman, Cameron McGlinchey and Paul Elliot – will take to the stage at The Del (Delany Hotel) on Saturday 11 January.
It’s part of a full-throttle celebration on their Rock ‘n’ Roll Summer Tour, featuring the classics Better, Helping Hand, C’mon, Shivers, October Grey, Eve of Destruction and many more.
Kicking off in Queensland, they’ll wrap it all up in in Tamworth at the Longyard Hotel on 21 January.
Originating from Newcastle, The Screaming Jets have been an enduring force in the Australian music scene for more than three decades, releasing 10 studio albums and some of the nation’s most iconic songs.
Fronted by the incomparable Gleeson, a rock legend whose powerful vocals and charismatic stage presence have left an indelible mark.
He’s inspired generations of fans with his raw talent and unwavering dedication to the music he loves.
With over 200 live shows nationally under their belts before they had even secured their first record deal, the release of The Screaming Jets’ debut All For One in 1991 grabbed everyone by the scruff of their necks and gave our ears a red hot shake.
It peaked at No. 2 on the ARIA charts and the second single from the offering, Better, was the song that introduced the band to the world and saw them embark on their maiden world tour – to Europe, UK, USA and Canada.
Their second record Tear of Thought debuted at No. 3 on the ARIA charts, entrenching the Jets as one of this country’s most beloved and respected rock bands.
Demonstrating the group’s enduring popularity, the 2021 30th anniversary edition of All For One landed straight back into the ARIA Albums Chart at No. 4, also topping the charts as No. 1 vinyl album.
Three decades after the band kicked off its career with two Top 5 albums, their newest offering, Professional Misconduct, afforded them with another No. 3 album debut, securing the top spot on both the ARIA Australian albums chart and the Vinyl albums chart and No. 3 on the main album chart.
It also debuted No. 1 on both the iTunes and AIR album charts.
General public tickets go on sale from 9am on Thursday 5 December.
