The Rebels will unleash a Tiger as they attempt to get their Newcastle T20 Summer Bash campaign back on track this weekend.
The NDCA Suburban Districts combined outfit has secured the services of all-rounder Ryan Felsch from the Sydney Cricket Club (SCC) for the double-header at the Pasterfield Sports Complex on 23 January.
The left-handed batter and right-arm medium fast bowler made his first grade debut for SCC during the 2012/13 season to become Tiger number 563.
Since then, he’s scored more than 5,000 runs and taken in excess of 250 wickets.
But, the 28-year-old’s biggest achievement was smashing a remarkable 135 off 62 balls against Hawkesbury in a 50-over clash on Saturday 16 January 2021.
That knock included only five fours but a massive 15 sixes in the 155-run victory.
Rebels skipper Josh Moxey will be keen to see more of Felsch’s big hitting prowess when he lines up against the Sea Dragons (noon) and Black Roses (3pm) on Sunday afternoon.
And, he’ll bring a winning attitude to the T20 Summer Bash, too, following success in the Kingsgrove T20 Cup and T20 National Championships in 2019/20.
The Rebels are keen to bounce back after a nine-wicket loss to the Sabres in a shortened fixture, seven days ago, as well as a narrow defeat to the Rosellas at Learmonth Park.
On that occasion, Jarrod Moxey hit 51 and Jack Attenborough chipped in with 47 as the team posted 8-137.
However, the Rosellas managed 3-138 in reply.
