Raworth woman almost threw away $200,000 windfall

Two months after the draw, a Raworth woman has admitted she came close to throwing out her Lucky Lotteries ticket worth $200,000 after nearly mistaking it for a Bunnings receipt.

The NSW player scored the first prize in the Mega Jackpot draw 1529, drawn Friday 23 April.

The ticket was unregistered, so officials from The Lott had no way of contacting the winner to break the news and had to wait for them to come forward to claim their bounty.

Thankfully, the player had scanned her ticket at her local outlet with no idea it had won $200,000 almost two months ago.

“Gosh! I’m blown away,” she declared.

“I nearly threw it in the garbage. It was among my Bunnings receipts.

“Once I found it, I thought I would just go across the road to get my regular tickets.

“I gave it to the cashier, and it scanned up as a larger win. He glanced at me weirdly.

“I thought he was joking with me. He knows I come in regularly.

“This is absolutely amazing. I really had one of those days where I needed some good luck.”

When asked how she might enjoy her lottery windfall, the jubilant winner immediately thought of putting it towards her house mortgage.

“My husband seriously won’t believe me,” she laughed.

“This has come at a very important time as I had to give up work.

“This will bring less stress and place me forward in retirement.

“This is amazing!”

The winning entry was purchased at Spar Express Morpeth, 165 Swan Street, Morpeth.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot is now $1.24 million for draw 1536, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot is $6.35 million for draw 10471.

In 2020, 141 Lucky Lotteries first prize and jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $48.61 million.
