QT Newcastle offering ‘quirky’ dream job

SHARE

Following a highly-successful launch last week, QT Newcastle is now seeking recruits for its quirkiest role yet.

And, if sleeping on the job, taste testing and throwing theatrically flamboyant rooftop parties sounds like your idea of a dream gig, then QT Hotels & Resorts wants to hear from you.

To celebrate the opening of the five-star premises on 9 June, QT is searching for an aficionado – of the finer things in life – for all the luxurious touches and comforts the hotel has to offer.

“I’m looking for someone who lives the QT life,” QT Newcastle general manager Michael Stambouldis said.

“A person who knows how to sleep, eat and drink on the job, who has a penchant for theatrics and a flair for the unexpected.

“They’ll be as comfortable in party pants as they are in pyjamas and ready to experience everything QT Newcastle has to offer.”

Part-reviewer, part-party maven, the QT’s first QT Connoisseur will be “Chief Tasting Officer” for the newly-opened Jana Restaurant and Bar, spearheaded by award-winning executive chef Massimo Speroni.

The unique position involves expertly reviewing every seasonal menu for one year [from June 2022 to June 2023], bringing Michelin star experience and Novocastrian flavour to the community of Newcastle.

Speroni’s take on modern Australian cuisine is mixed with Italian influence to create an approachable produce-led list of options featuring unexpected twists on simple dishes for elevated, yet comfortably casual dining.

Flexing their taste buds to celestial heights, the QT Connoisseur will also kick-off their QT career nine levels up at Rooftop by QT, with QT Newcastle throwing a raucous welcome party for the new recruit and 40 friends.

In the role, they’ll enjoy insider access to the Japanese-inspired menu and their pick of theatrically-flared cocktails created with QT’s Ordered Chaos Gin created in partnership with Four Pillars.

The QT Connoisseur will have the opportunity to taste test the rarest whisky in the city, too, flown directly from Japan, in an exclusive experience with bar manager Natalie McAlary.

If sleeping on the job, taste testing and throwing theatrically flamboyant rooftop parties sounds like your idea of a dream gig, then QT Hotels & Resorts wants to hear from you.

However, the most important part of their responsibility is to sleep on the job.

Yes, you heard it right.

They’ll swap their party pants for pyjamas to sink into a QT dream bed and road-test the bubble-to-water ratio of QT’s lavishly-oversized bathtubs.

In true QT quirk, no two rooms are the same.

So, the QT Connoisseur will need to conduct a “vibe check” on the various types, scoring the ultimate work perk to takeover an entire floor of the hotel for themselves for a night of revelry and luxury across 10 rooms.

Within their tenure, they’ll also have the chance to stay overnight in QT Newcastle’s debonair Clock Suite; a natural light filled sanctuary fixed in time within the building’s iconic dome and clock face.

What are you waiting for?

Apply today via QT Newcastle’s Instagram DMs.

All future tastemakers need to do is show off their ability to eat, drink and sleep on the job with their best selfie or TikTok.

Applications close at 11.59pm on 21 June.
