The Newcastle Exhibition Centre will be transformed into a shopping haven later this month, full of just about everything for babies and littlies.
Following a hugely-successful event in March, the My Kids Market – an opportunity to buy, sell and recycle pre-loved items – is scheduled to return to the city on Sunday 31 July.
And, with the assistance of the local community, it will also support a number of charities, including the John Hunter Children’s Hospital Kids Club, by helping them raise funds for vital new medical equipment.
“At the My Kids Market, families turn gently used items such as clothing and toys their children have outgrown into cash, instead of adding to landfill,” organiser Jennifer Harrison said.
“That means savvy shoppers can enjoy huge savings on all the popular baby and kids’ brands when buying quality pre-loved items at a fraction of the cost of purchasing new.
“Small businesses have the chance to showcase their unique products and services in a community environment, too.
“They can target a whole new audience.
“The event is run by mums for mums and caters to all baby and kids’ needs from pregnancy and newborns to approximately eight years of age.”
Ms Harrison admitted the My Kids Market, which will take place between 9am and noon, was all about sustainability.
“With children growing out of things so quickly, it makes perfect sense that items such as clothing, toys, shoes, books and even nursery furniture get passed onto other families,” she said.
“Our shoppers are always commenting on the quality of the goods and the low prices.
“Plus, it’s not just for second-hand products.
“Hunter businesses who provide unique baby/kids items or services can set up a stall, too.
“What we love most about My Kids Market is that it brings the entire community together with families buying and selling from each other and supporting locals.”
