Police treating Lake Mac death as ‘suspicious’

SHARE

Detectives are seeking public assistance following the death of a man found critically-injured at a Gateshead home last week.

Emergency services were called to a home on Mahogany Crescent about 11pm on Thursday 9 January after fielding calls from concerned family and friends.

A 37-year-old male was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

But, sadly, he died at the scene.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District began inquiries into the incident.

They also spoke with a number of people and canvassed the area.

However, a postmortem conducted on Monday 13 January revealed the man sustained several stab wounds.

Local police – assisted by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad – are now treating the death as suspicious.

As inquiries continue, police urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
