SHARE

Detectives have launched an appeal for information following three separate home invasions and assaults at a Newcastle unit block.

It’s understood a few people were injured at the premises on Fowler Street in Hamilton South between Friday 30 January and Tuesday 3 February.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District have now established Strike Force Arnstone to investigate the incidents and any links among them.

Firstly, a 26-year-old woman was asleep in a unit when she was assaulted by an unknown person between 4.30am and 6am on Friday 30 January.

The attack resulted in deep cuts to her face and her hand, believed to be caused by a large-bladed weapon.

She’s since sought treatment at the John Hunter Hospital.

Then, emergency services were called to a flat in the same building following reports of a home invasion about 8pm on Friday 30 January.

Police received information a 44-year-old man was assaulted and robbed by three men who were armed with edged weapons.

As a result, an amount of cash and property was stolen from the unit.

The man was subsequently treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to the John Hunter Hospital for the treatment of lacerations and bruising.

Finally, about 10.20pm on Monday 2 February, emergency services were called to the same complex following reports a male had been injured by an unknown person.

Officers found a 32-year-old with lacerations to his back and head, consistent with a large-bladed weapon.

He was taken to the John Hunter Hospital, too, for the treatment of serious injuries.

As inquiries continue, police urge anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
