Police investigate armed robbery in Adamstown

Newcastle City Police are investigating an armed robbery at a fast food store in Adamstown overnight.

At about 9.40pm (Wednesday 16 February), two employees – a 21-year-old woman and a 19-year-old man – were inside a store on Brunker Road, when a man – armed with a meat cleaver – entered the store and demanded cash.

The female employee handed over a sum of cash before the man fled south on foot along Brunker Road.

Both employees were uninjured during the incident.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District attended and established a crime scene.

The man is described as wearing all black clothing, with his face covered and wearing gloves – carrying a green reusable shopping bag.

As investigations continue, anyone with information is urged to come forward.
