Pixar Putt tees-off in Newcastle

SHARE

Toy Story, Up, Inside Out and Monsters Inc are all incredible films but now they’ve been transformed into something even more exciting – a putt putt golf course.

The Pixar Putt layout opened in Newcastle this afternoon (Thursday 1 April) but some lucky young golfers were invited to give it test run beforehand.

Brother and sister duo, eight-year-old Cohen Smith and his older sibling 11-year-old Mackenzie, tore up the course and even sank some holes in one.

One of their favourite holes was inspired by Cars. It involves hitting the golf ball through a giant number 95.

“It’s really good,” Mackenzie said.

“It’s a lot of fun and I think it’ll definitely get kids attracted to golf.”

The competitive siblings gave every hole their best shot.

“I got three holes in one,” Cohen said. “It’s really cool.”

Pixar Putt will be available to play from today until Sunday 25 April at Wheeler Place in Hunter Street.

It is set to be a major attraction in Newcastle over the school holidays.

The pop-up mini golf course includes 18 holes inspired by Pixar films.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Pixar Putt to Newcastle in April, including 18 unique, selfie-worthy mini-golf holes for Novocastrians to enjoy right here in the heart of the city,” TEG Live managing director Tim McGregor said.

The COVIDSafe event requires players to sign in on entry and maintain physical distancing between others, frequent sanitising will also occur.

Event organisers suggest that interested players make advance bookings to ensure they secure their preferred tee-off time.

It is open from 10am until 8pm Sunday to Wednesday and 10am until 9.30pm Thursday to Saturday.

The evening sessions from 7pm on Thursday, Friday and Sunday will be adults only.

Tickets start at $19.90 for children, $29,90 for adults and $79.90 for families (two adults, two children or one adult and three children).

Go to pixarputt.com.au for more information or to purchase tickets.
