Pink offers a Wave of Hope for one lucky Novocastrian

SHARE

While most of Australia went all Tay Tay for Taylor Swift, Novocastrians were treated to their own megastar when Pink performed in town.

Now, locals and fans of the pop star, who took the stage in front of 34,000 people at McDonald Jones Stadium last month, have an opportunity to own a unique memento from that unforgettable evening.

The Hunter Children’s Research Foundation (HCRF), authorised to fundraise for the Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI), is offering people the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime collectable… while supporting the organisation.

The Pink signed surfboard.

To commemorate Pink’s Summer Carnival tour stopover in Newcastle, a surfboard was designed by shaper Dwane Jefferson.

And, incredibly, the singer behind the hits So What, Just Give Me a Reason, What About Us, Raise Your Glass, Try, Who Knew, Get The Party Started and more signed it for the Wave of Hope online raffle.

The surfboard was then generously donated by Live Nation and McDonald Jones Stadium, with manager Dean Mantle recently handing it over to HCRF chair Janelle Shakespeare OAM.

“It’s a superb piece of memorabilia,” she said.

“We are honoured McDonald Jones Stadium and Live Nation chose to support the amazing children’s medical research done here in the Hunter that HCRF fundraises for.

“I encourage all Pink fans to grab their tickets.

“Not only are they in with a chance to win this amazing surfboard, but they are also helping medical research into children’s terminal and debilitating illnesses to save the lives of youngsters across the Hunter, NSW and beyond.

“So, the board awaits its lucky new owner.”

Tickets, $20 each, can be purchased here.

The raffle will be drawn at 8.30am on Friday 22 March at the Hunter Medical Research Institute’s head office.

“Through the community’s support for the Wave of Hope fundraiser, we move closer to a future where every child has the hope and opportunity for a healthy life,” Ms Shakespeare said.

“Let’s ride the wave together.”
