Running late to work this week cost a P-plater dearly on the back roads of the Upper Hunter.
The provincial P2 driver was detected travelling 128km/h in an 80km/h zone on Kayuga Road, in Muswellbrook.
Officers attached to the Hunter Valley Highway Patrol stopped the vehicle and spoke to the man behind the wheel.
He was then hit with a fine of $3,054 for drive 45km/h over the speed limit.
If that wasn’t enough, the youngster copped a further $330 penalty for not displaying his plates… and suspended from driving for six months.
“Unfortunately, it’s another poor decision, which resulted in severe consequences,” an NSW Police spokesperson said.
“It’s been learnt the driver was late for work and likely using the back road to get there quicker and avoid traffic.
“Perhaps a phone call to the boss might have sufficed… in hindsight.
“But it shows, it doesn’t matter where you are – on a main thoroughfare or a remote stretch, we’ll catch you.
“So, we’re appealing to drivers to make better decisions on our roads to ensure they protect themselves and other road-users.”
