WHAT: Melbourne International Comedy Festival Roadshow
WHERE: Newcastle Civic Theatre
WHEN: Friday 11 June, Saturday 12 June
TIME: Friday – 8pm-9pm; Saturday 8pm-9.30pm

Australia’s favourite comedy convoy is locked, loaded and hitting every corner of the country, including Newcastle. Join the diverse line-up of the hottest acts direct from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for a very special show that is sure to tickle everyone’s funny bone. Featuring a cast of Australian stars, talented newcomers and special guest international performers – Andy Saunders, Chris Ryan, Lizzy Hoo and Sam Taunton (pictured), we’re home-delivering Australia’s largest comedy festival in one jam-packed night of the biggest and best belly laughs you’ll have all year. Hosted by Kevin Kropinyeri (MC). Arrive early to enjoy pre-show entertainment at the Civic Bar by local indie-folk/pop singer and songwriter Rod Coote.

WHAT: Lake Macquarie Winds
WHERE: Rathmines Theatre
WHEN: Saturday 12 June
TIME: 2pm

As a part of the Dobell Festival, Lake Macquarie Winds is presenting a concert at the Rathmines Theatre. Entry is free, but donations would be gratefully accepted. Lake Macquarie Winds is a community concert band comprising some 25 players, primarily of wind instruments, and a percussion section. The aims of the band are to provide entertainment for the community, to promote music in the area, and to encourage participation in music. The concert will feature a wide range of music ranging from standard concert band repertoire to jazz; medleys from stage shows, movies and gaming themes; medleys from artists such as Lady Gaga, Buddy Holly, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, Van Morrison; semi classical pieces; and spiritual music. Lake Macquarie Winds is grateful for the financial support of Create NSW.

WHAT: Step Into The Past
WHERE: Grossmann House
WHEN: Saturday 12 June and Sunday 13 June
TIME: 10am-3pm

As part of the Maitland Heritage Festival this weekend, Grossmann House will be open for one-hourly house visits from 10am to 3pm at the special price of $5 admission, bookings not required. The adjoining Brough House will exhibit a special display of items from our collection which are not often shown. Titled Victorian Whispers, among the many curiosities are marrow spoons, gloves stretchers and Vesta containers. Served in our lovely gardens, refreshments, including Devonshire Teas, will be available. Further enquiries at [email protected]

WHAT: Maitland Heritage Festival
WHERE: Church Street
WHEN: Saturday 12 June and Sunday 13 June
TIME: 10am-4pm

The Maitland Heritage Festival will take place in the historic Church Street, Maitland. This community event aims to share, celebrate and promote Maitland’s history with historical displays, heritage walks, house tours, activities and games, entertainment, demonstrations, food and more. WHAT: Clothing For Every Occasion
WHERE: Miss Porter’s House Museum, 434 King Street (Newcastle)
WHEN: Sunday 13 June
TIME: 1pm-4pm

From underwear to coats, business suits to party frocks, the Porter women were prolific home dressmakers. Admire their skills on display in Clothing For Every Occasion at Miss Porter’s House Museum, 434 King Street, Newcastle West. See stunning homemade clothing and household textiles 1910-1997 made by Florence Porter and her daughters Ella and Hazel. On display are clothes and accessories for everyday use, the office and special occasions, plus exquisite crochet, lace and embroidered household linens. Marvel at re-purposed clothing and the mending and darning of yesteryear. Adults $10, concessions $8, family $25 with children under 5 free.
