Cessnock Leagues Club has officially opened the doors to its $25 million redevelopment, marking a major new chapter for one of the Hunter’s long standing community clubs.
The redevelopment was officially launched on Friday, September 4, with NSW Minister for Gaming and Racing David Harris joining club representatives, founding committee members, community leaders, industry stakeholders, members and guests for the opening.
The $25 million project is the biggest redevelopment in the club’s 46 year history and has almost doubled its footprint, creating a much bigger space for members, locals and visitors to eat, drink and gather.
The revamped club now has capacity for around 1400 people, along with a new restaurant, expanded bistro and café facilities and upgraded bars.

There is also more than 1700 square metres of outdoor space, including landscaped areas, alfresco dining, a courtyard and a new children’s playground.
For families, there is also a dedicated outdoor stage, which will host live entertainment as part of the club’s expanded outdoor precinct.
The redevelopment was designed by architectural firm ALTIS Architecture and aims to create a more contemporary destination while maintaining the club’s role within the local community.

Cessnock Hospitality Group CEO Paul Cousins said the expanded venue would provide more opportunities for the community to come together.
“These new facilities provide more opportunities and more space for our community to come together and socially connect,” he said.
The club says the redevelopment is also expected to deliver a boost to the local economy through increased spending with local suppliers and new employment opportunities.
With the doors now officially open, Cessnock Leagues Club is looking to the next chapter of its 46 year history, with a significantly larger venue and more spaces for the community to enjoy.
