Construction has begun on Newcastle’s latest residential development – ONE Apartments.

Following weeks of demolition and dirt-turning, GWH started building a 22 and 19-storey premises at the site located at 1 National Park Newcastle West.

The build comes less than 24 hours after the Newcastle-based building and development group revealed its latest offering, Sky Residences, to the public.

Designed by global architects Marchese partners and locals CKDS, One Apartments will be a twin-tower development offering 193 one, two and three-bedroom, luxury apartments.

GWH managing director Jonathan Craig says the latest undertaking is designed with Novocastrians in mind.

“We’re very excited to be delivering another landmark development in our home town,” he said.

“Having delivered more than 640 apartments into our region in the past five years, we’ve undertaken significant research into the elements our residents most desire.

“ONE Apartments are the accumulation of what people have told us they want.”

In what has become their signature move, GWH will include two all-weather rooftop entertaining areas boasting 360-degree views of Newcastle.

However, unlike its other developments, residents of ONE Apartments are private areas which will be made available for private bookings.

Other facilities include outdoor heated pool, cinema, gymnasium, steam room and a number of smaller private communal spaces.

GWH officially launched ONE Apartments to market mid-June 2022, after an earlier “expression of interest” campaign.

GWH/RE licensee in charge Peter Kunov says sales of the new building were already faring well.

“Over one-third of Stage One has been sold in eight weeks,” he said.

“Given the level of enquiry we are receiving, I have every confidence in the local market and continuing sales.

“There is always talk about property booms in Newcastle.

“It has seen continual steady growth through multiple market cycles. With the continued investment and rejuvenation of the city and the shift away from the major cities we don’t see this growth changing for many years to come.”

Early works are scheduled to take six months to complete.

“The program will see demolition of the existing site through August and September, followed by grouting of underground mine workings, services relocations and upgrades through until early 2023 when we can begin structural piling and inground works,” says GWH construction manager George Araujo.

A Hunter-based company established and owned by locals for more than 25 years, GWH is currently developing Macquarie Tower in Charlestown and have an expression of interest campaign running on ELEMENT Apartments in Newcastle West.
