Olive Tree Market returns with Summer Series

SHARE

COVID-19 lockdowns have had a huge impact on creative small business with thousands of events cancelled in the past 18 months.

But, with restrictions eased, The Olive Tree Market is excited to be back with its Summer Series of pre-Christmas art and design markets.

Kicking off at Civic Park on Saturday 20 November, the organisers’ ethos focuses on shopping locally and supporting small and ethically created small batch goods.

“After being unable to trade for four months, our return market will feature more than 120 art, design, and gourmet produce stalls and a line-up of live local music,” founder Justine Gaudry said.

“It’s the perfect time to plan a special day out with family and friends and to start your Christmas shopping.

“We’re really excited to have a collective of super talented artists, designers and makers joining us for the Summer Series.”

Local creatives will be joined by artists and designers travelling far and wide at Olive Tree, as many of Sydney’s high-quality events are not returning until 2022.

“We’re delighted to deliver a COVID-safe event within the NSW Government guidelines,” Ms Gaudry said.

“This means that the market will be back for vaccinated stallholders and customers on 20 November and 4 December.

“Our final Christmas one on 18 December will be open to all the community unless the restrictions change.”

The Summer Series of The Olive Tree Market presents visitors with the opportunity to discover an amazing variety of beautifully-crafted contemporary products, all in an exciting festival market setting.

“There are so many reasons to shop local,” Ms Gaudry said.

“Visitors can discover unique gift ideas and be assured that they can pick-up small batch, thoughtfully-created handmade goods.

“Each purchase means you are supporting local artists and championing creative talent.

“There is the added bonus that customers’ purchases will contribute to the local economy and make a stand against mass produced goods, all in the cultural heart of Newcastle.”

The Olive Tree Market is Newcastle’s longest running art and design market where you can find the highest-quality designer wares.

Once the shopping, and sampling is done, visitors can bring along a picnic rug and join friends and family for a delicious brunch from the local street food purveyors while listening to home-grown musicians.

The Summer Series of The Olive Tree Markets will take place on Saturday 20 November, Saturday 4 December and Saturday 18 December at Civic Park from 9am to 2pm.
