Numerous road projects result in traffic changes throughout Hunter

While construction continues along the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace, Newcastle Inner City Bypass and Singleton Bypass, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) is also overseeing numerous other projects in the region this week.

TfNSW makes every effort to minimise impacts to motorists, with the traffic changes needed to safely build these ventures causes unavoidable cumulative delays.

M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace

Work resumes across the project from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday; 8am to 5pm on Saturday; and from 7pm to 5am Monday to Friday.

It’ll require lane closures with intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h at the following locations and times:

From 7pm to 5am, on the nights of Sunday 22 March until Friday 27 March

  • M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
  • John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
  • New England Highway at Tarro
  • Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae

From 7am to 5pm, Monday 23 March until Friday 27 March

  • Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill
  • Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago
  • New England Highway Eastbound at Tarro

Multiple locations between Lambton and New Lambton Heights

Maintenance is scheduled at multiple locations, including Croudace Street at Lambton and Lookout Road and Charlestown Road at New Lambton Heights.

City of Newcastle (CN) will carry out the work on behalf of TfNSW from 8pm on Monday 23 March to 5am on Tuesday 24 March.

Traffic control, single lane closures, alternating stop/slow and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h is in place for the safety of workers and motorists.

Operators of Over-Size and/or Over-Mass (OSOM) vehicles are advised to call ahead on UHF channel 21 to be escorted through the site.

Multiple locations, Broadmeadow to Lambton

It’s a similar story at multiple locations from Broadmeadow to Lambton, on Newcastle Road and Griffiths Road.

CN will carry out the work on behalf of TfNSW from 8pm to 5am on Monday 23 March.

Traffic control, single lane closures, alternating stop/slow and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h is in place, too.

Operators of OSOM vehicles are advised to call ahead on UHF channel 21 to be escorted through the site.

New England Highway, Greta

Maintenance is planned on the New England Highway between Orient Street (Greta) and Walkers Hill Lane (Harpers Hill).

It’ll include asphalt work and culvert repairs to help extend the life of the stormwater system.

To minimise any impacts, it will start from Monday 23 March and continue over the next fortnight – 7pm to 5am, Sunday to Thursday.

Traffic control, including a single lane closure, alternating stop/slow and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h is in place.

Stewart Avenue, Hamilton South

Maintenance is slated for Stewart Avenue between Turnbull Street and Cram Street, Hamilton South.

CN will carry out the work on behalf of TfNSW from 8pm on Tuesday 24 March to 5am on Wednesday 25 March.

The southbound lanes on Stewart Avenue are being closed and undergoing stop/go traffic arrangements between Turnbull Street and Cram Street.

A detour will be available for westbound motorists who wish to avoid delays via Turnbull Street, Darling Street, Gordon Avenue, Pulver Street, Lawson Street, Thomas Street, Cross Street and Glebe Road to rejoin Stewart Avenue.

Traffic control, single lane closures, alternating stop/slow and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h is in place for the safety of everyone.

Operators of OSOM vehicles are advised to call ahead on UHF channel 21 to be escorted through the site.

Northcott Drive, Adamstown Heights to Kotara

CN will undertake maintenance on Northcott Drive between Lexington Parade, Adamstown Heights, and Kullaiba Road, Kotara.

The work is being carried out from 8pm on Tuesday 24 to 5am on Wednesday 25 March.

Traffic control, single lane closures, alternating stop/slow and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place.

Operators of OSOM vehicles are advised to call ahead on UHF channel 21 to be escorted through the site.

Bridges Road, New Lambton

Maintenance is also organised for Bridges Road between Saint James Road and William Street, New Lambton.

CN will carry out the work on behalf of TfNSW from 8pm on Tuesday 24 to 5am on Wednesday 25 March.

Traffic control, single lane closures, alternating stop/slow and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h is in place, too.

Operators of OSOM vehicles are advised to call ahead on UHF channel 21 to be escorted through the site.
