Ninja Parc Newcastle to leap into national championships

SHARE

Have you ever dreamed of being a Ninja Warrior?

If the answer is “yes”, now’s your chance to challenge yourself – and run the Warped Wall – in your own backyard.

Ninja Parc Newcastle will host its inaugural national championships on Saturday 26 November, from 10am, with wannabe ninjas from as young as seven travelling from Australia to compete at the Cooks Hill obstacle course.

The event boasts three age divisions: 7-10 years, 11-15 years, and open (16 years and older).

“We are looking forward to welcoming challengers from around Australia,” said Newcastle’s Mitch Bird, who was one of the course-testers for the sixth season of Ninja Warrior.

“And, we’re so excited that Newcastle gets to stage the first championship.

“Our thanks go to Koga Sport for getting on board.

“The Ninja Parc concept was conceived in the city six years ago by local John Pirlo.

“So, it’s fitting that the maiden competition happens right here where it all started.

“Participants also have the opportunity to compete against former Ninja Warrior contestants including Newcastle’s Jason ‘The Saxy Ninja’ Mitchell, season six grand finalist Saxon Johnstone, ex-semi-finalist Cam Mclintock and Townsville’s Keziah Furnell.”

The Ninja Parc course will feature many of the obstacles from the highly-successful television show.

That includes rope climbs, bouldering challenges, vertical and horizontal doors, a sea of poles and everyone’s favourite, the Warped Wall.

Bird said the circuits were fast becoming one of the most popular physical activities for both children and adults.

“And, that’s not just due to the TV show,” the Ninja Parc national program manager explained.

“It’s easy to see why ninja-style obstacle courses are so loved.

“They are a great individual challenge… and you can also work together as a group to tackle the course.

“We’re really hoping the Ninja Parc National Championships attract a big crowd.

“It should be very entertaining.”
