Charlestown motorists are being warned of overnight delays as crews prepare to replace the traffic lights at a busy Pacific Highway intersection.
The Pacific Highway and Ridley Street intersection will undergo maintenance works from Monday, 10 August, with the project expected to continue for about a month.
The upgrade will see the existing traffic lights, poles, cabling and controller replaced with new equipment designed to improve the intersection’s technical performance.
To allow crews to complete the works safely, the lights will be switched off during construction hours and temporary traffic controls will be in place.
Work will take place overnight between 6pm and 5am on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights, with Thursday works scheduled from 9.30pm to 5am.
A 40km/h reduced speed limit will apply through the work zone, with motorists urged to follow directions from signs and traffic controllers.
Transport for NSW has also advised heavy vehicle operators that vehicles with a ground contact or an overall width greater than three metres will need to contact the project team at least one day before travelling through the area.
Heavy vehicle operators travelling under a permit are reminded they must remain on the approved route listed in their permit unless an updated permit has been obtained from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator.
