Hunter motorists are being advised of changed traffic conditions from this weekend on John Renshaw Drive to carry out road resurfacing work on the overpass bridge eastbound towards Hexham.
To reduce impact to all drivers, John Renshaw Drive will be closed over two nights – eastbound between Kinta Drive and the New England Highway from 8pm to 4am on Sunday 6 December and Monday 7 December, weather permitting.
A detour will be in place via Weakleys Drive and the New England Highway for motorists travelling towards Hexham.
This is expected to add about seven minutes travel time.
Access will be maintained to the service station and food outlets on John Renshaw Drive, with an alternative detour in place for people accessing these facilities via Kinta Drive and Enterprise Drive, linking back to Weakleys Drive and the New England Highway.
This diversion is expected to add about eight minutes travel time.
Electronic message signs will be in place to give advance notice of changed traffic conditions, with the detour route clearly signposted.
Closures may also be required between 8pm and 4am from Tuesday 8 December to Thursday 10 December if wet weather prevents work from being completed.
Electronic message signs will direct drivers if additional night closures are required.
Meanwhile, motorists are encouraged to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.
Transport for NSW thanks everyone for their patience during this time.
