It’s funny how some things are wired into us early.
As a three-year-old, my family still tells the story of how I refused to share my biscuits at playgroup.
In my mind, there was a reason. The other child hadn’t been kind, and I’d already decided I wasn’t going to share with someone who didn’t share the same values.
Playgroup ended pretty quickly that day. I was taken home, sent to my room, and asked what I’d learned. My response was simple. He was still not getting any of my vanilla wafers.
Looking back, there’s something in that story that has stayed with me. Raising a child, in many ways, isn’t that different to running a business. It takes a village.
It takes guidance, patience, and people around you who help shape what good looks like. Because when things are working well, when a business is growing and success is building, it’s never about one person. It’s about the people behind it.
The ones who show up every day, do the work, back each other, and quietly make everything happen. I see that in our team every single day, there is a rhythm to it.
You don’t have to over-explain things. People step in where needed. They pick things up before they become problems. They care, not just about their role, but about the outcome. Anyone can do a job. Not everyone is here for the legacy.
Of course, it’s not perfect all the time. But the strength is in how the team responds.
We stick together. We have conversations that need to be had. We move forward without losing momentum or respect.
Because when the team is strong, everything else follows.
