Newcastle’s deconstructed maze up for grabs

Still in need of a Christmas tree?

The mini forest maze that’s been delighting locals for the past week in Newcastle’s Civic Park will be packing up on Sunday morning, 13 December.

It means 120 trees are searching for a new home.

The maze is one of the free Very Newy Christmas activations, produced by Enigma and funded by City of Newcastle’s Special Business Rate Program, designed to create a buzz around the CBD in the lead up to the festive season.

Now, as it comes to an end, Enigma has partnered with The Salvation Army to offer the beautiful and fully-sized Christmas trees to members of the public in exchange for a small charity donation.

Residents are encouraged to turn up from 7am on Sunday 13 December at Civic Park and pay a nominal contribution to the Salvos Christmas Appeal in exchange for their tree.

The suggested donation for the tree, complete with base and LED solar lights, is $40 (Eftpos preferred), which will go towards Australian families in need this Christmas.

The new activation that takes the place of the maze in the Very Newy Christmas project is free Aussie beach-style photos at 153 Darby Street (from 10 to 15 December) and then onto 145 Hunter Street (17 to 22 December).

Gather your friends, family and pets, step into a classic Aussie Christmas scene and shake it like a pole-oriod picture for a snap of joy – 9am to 5pm weekdays and 9am to 1pm Saturday.
