After the success of Sir Elton John’s recent shows, Hunter music-lovers requested more high-profile acts to perform at McDonald Jones Stadium.

And, now, they have their wish following the announcement superstar Pink will bring her Summer Carnival tour to town on 13 February 2024.

General public tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster from noon on Friday 17 February.

The multi-award winning singer, who’s given fans such hits as So What, Just Give Me a Reason, What About Us, Raise Your Glass, Try, Who Knew, Get The Party Started, Beautiful Trauma, Please Don’t Leave Me and U & Ur Hand, last visited Newcastle in 2009 when stepped onto the stage at the Newcastle Entertainment Centre.

She also boasts five number one albums in Australia, including Hurts 2B Human, Funhouse, Greatest Hits…So Far!!!, The Truth About Love and Beautiful Trauma.

To celebrate the occasion, Newcastle is turning “pink”, with City Hall, Port of Newcastle, Crystalbrook Kingsley and McDonald Jones Stadium to be all lit up pink for the next week, starting tonight.

Lord Mayor Nuatali Nelmes admitted it was a “huge coup” for the city.

“Newcastle is kicking massive goals when it comes to cementing its status as a global events city,” she said.

“It’s fantastic to be able to follow up last month’s unforgettable performances by music legend Elton John with the news that pop icon Pink is set to bring her massive world tour to McDonald Jones Stadium next year.

“This tour will provide a major boost for our city, bringing thousands of visitors to Newcastle and injecting millions of dollars into our economy.

“We will continue to work together with Venues NSW to bring more events of this calibre to Newcastle.”

Venues NSW and McDonald Jones Stadium CEO Kerrie Mather said the venue had officially been cemented as the home of world-class events.

“It’s incredibly exciting to team up with Live Nation to bring Pink’s Summer Carnival show to McDonald Jones Stadium for the first time,” she stated.

“Pink follows the success of Elton John’s historic Newcastle concerts that were loved and enjoyed by more than 50,000 people.

“It is now well-known among promoters and artists around the world that Newcastle is home to a fantastic stadium that delivers extraordinary experiences for patrons and artists alike.

“Pink’s live shows are something that must be seen to be believed, and we can’t wait to welcome the music icon to Newcastle early next year.”
