Newcastle Show 2024: Roll up for a fresh take on history

A return to the city’s agricultural grassroots and the rebuilding of a connection with our past – that’s the plan for this year’s 122nd Montgomery Homes Newcastle Show.

With a new general manager at the helm, the three-day event – from 1 to 3 March – is set to look a little different in 2024.

The annual pilgrimage that attracts an average crowd of 40,000, is this year adopting a three-word theme inspired by its major sponsor – Montgomery Homes.

“Come on Home” is a motto Newcastle Show CEO Catherine Blanch says she hopes visitors will embrace.

“Over the past 120 years The Show has endured adversity – from war, storms, and floods, and even a pandemic,” she says.

“But, it still has a place in the hearts of thousands of Novocastrian showgoers.

“It’s an iconic celebration of Australian culture, from our rural traditions to our modern-day lifestyles, providing unique experiences for everyone.

“They say ‘home is where the heart is’ and this show will not disappoint.”

The Newcastle Show is returning within weeks.

This year’s show will feature a number of family-friendly activities, including a list of 50 with no cost to enjoy.

Outback Experience: Saddle up on the fringes of Centre Ring for a heart-pounding live show that will transport all ages into the wild days of the Outback.
