Five new cases of COVID-19 have been detected in the Hunter region overnight.
Hunter New England Health said all of the infections are in the Newcastle LGA, with three in Jesmond and two in Elermore Vale.
Two of the cases were infectious in the community and two are associated with the aged care cluster.
All of the new infections are linked to previously reported ones.
NSW Deputy Chief Health Officer Dr Marianne Gale said it was “good news” that all the cases are linked.
“I am pleased that all five of those cases in Hunter New England are linked,” she said on Thursday.
The five new detections take the total number in the current outbreak to 150.
However, NSW Deputy Premier John Barilaro said more cases had been detected in the Hunter since 8pm last night.
Of the active infections, 28 people are currently being cared for in hospital, no one is in ICU.
The lockdown in Regional NSW will also be extended to 28 August, in line with the existing orders in Greater Sydney.
“My message to everybody continues to be to make sure that we stay vigilant, to get out get tested if you have symptoms,” Mr Barilaro said.
It comes after NSW recorded 681 fresh infections and one more death in the last 24 hours.
511 of the new infections are under investigation.
Anyone with even the mildest of symptoms is urged to get tested.
There are more than 410 testing clinics open across NSW. For a complete list and booking details, please visit: health.nsw.gov.au/Infectious/covid-19/Pages/clinics.aspx
