Australian country music star Morgan Evans’ hometown of Newcastle is front and centre of his latest album, Steel Town.

The Novocastrian’s sophomore offering will be released on 20 March 2026, on the back of his new single Beer Back Home.

Described as an upbeat and nostalgic soundtrack, built for a Saturday night, it celebrates his roots following a recording stint in Nashville.

“I had to get outta this town,” he said.

“I needed something real.

“Old mates, familiar places and salt water.

“I decided to reconnect with where I came from, who I was, who I wanna be.

“This record is a journey… and it all started with a beer back home.”

Beer Back Home is Evans’ first single in more than two years – a period of reflection spent in Newcastle, which saw him tapping into a deep vein of creativity.

Ultimately, that period led him to Nashville again, with a renewed passion for crafting songs that resonate on a global scale.

That full odyssey and reflective energy will be captured on Steel Town.

Over the course of his career, Evans has scored No. 1 hits with the Platinum-certified Kiss Somebody and Gold-certified fan favourite Day Drunk.

But, beneath the internationally appealing country sound, he’s known for the unmistakable influence of his coastal Australian roots.

Raised by blue-collar parents on a few acres of land, he carries that grounding with him wherever his music goes.

However, the past two years, Evans spent much of his time in Newcastle, the “steel city” where he first fell in love with songwriting.

Today, his music has been streamed over one billion times worldwide.

His 2018 debut, Things That We Drink To, catapulted Evans into international acclaim, delivering his first-ever country radio No. 1 with Kiss Somebody and Day Drunk, while drawing praise from Rolling Stone, Billboard, PEOPLE and more.

In 2022, he headlined Australia’s biggest country music festival, CMC Rocks, and has toured extensively across North America and Europe.

Following two more EPs, Evans hit a new high with the raw and viral Over For You.

The track marked a cathartic reset and culminated in sold-out nights at the iconic Sydney Opera House.
