Newcastle-based lawyer unveils innovative online platform WillTek

Newcastle-based lawyer Justine Aubin is launching an innovative online platform encouraging young people to create a will.

As Novocastrians continue to take their first step in purchasing a home or starting a family, the local entrepreneur noticed a growing need for individuals to plan for the future, too.

This scenario sparked the idea to establish WillTek, an initiative which allows customers to create their will in an easy, quick and affordable manner.

Ms Aubin admitted she’d witnessed many issues with the process first-hand.

“When a will is not in place, it generally leads to a series of burdens for friends and family which could have been avoided,” she said.

“For most young people, creating one isn’t always a top priority, even when it can be especially important to have one in place if you have children or assets such a property, shares or cash.

“There needs to be more awareness around the implications of not having a will in place including the stress and emotional toll it takes on their loved ones.”

WillTek invites customers to create their will through a step-by-step guided process featuring helpful definitions, real-life situations and advice throughout.

After they input their details to the platform, the site then formulates the will, which is verified by an expert before a copy is then shared with the client to sign and witness.

As impacts from COVID-19 have accelerated the need for increased online solutions, Ms Aubin highlighted how WillTek accommodated to customers who wanted to create their will in a safe and convenient environment.

“WillTek allows them to sort their will in their own time from the comfort of their home,” she said.

“As a lawyer, excuses I hear as to why clients don’t have a will generally revolve around time and money as well as not knowing where to begin.

“WillTek alleviates these barriers through a secure and guided process, making creating a will easy and accessible for all.”

According to recent studies, about 50% of Australians don’t have a valid will, causing concern that a large percentage of Australians do not have their affairs in order.

WillTek is a simple and secure platform that takes the hassle out of organising your will.

It offers customers peace of mind for their loved ones as well as the satisfaction of completing another life admin job for themselves.
