Newcastle author’s ‘inspiration’ a family affair

Drawing inspiration from her daughter, Newcastle-based author Sheree Chambers is set to release a new children’s book series to encourage young readers to witness the beauty of our nation.

And, the first offering in Ella’s Aussie Adventures – the aptly-named Ella Arrives in Australia – will be available from 24 February, much to the delight of the local writer.

Created by Sheree, and illustrated by Nohya Muhammad, each volume centres on a different aspect of our country, including nature, landscapes and history.

But, there’s a learning component as well.

“The books in this series are alphabetical and use a combination of verbs and nouns to introduce each subject,” Sheree said.

“So, we welcome Ella Arrives in Australia first-up, with upcoming escapades such as Ella Boils a Billy and Ella Chases a Cassowary.

“The title character is a little girl who wants to go on an adventure to explore a foreign land.

“Readers are invited to join Ella and her bunny on her maiden quest as she arrives in Australia.

“I’m excited to be partnering with some children’s educators and preparing a teacher’s companion that will be available with each book.

“These friends will include both individual and class lessons.”

Sheree, the founder and director of digital design agency Brugel Creative – the 2019 winner of the Hunter Regional Business Award for an internet-based business, said the series focused on helping young children discover Australia in an engaging and unique way.

However, it also boasts a personal touch.

“Ella’s Aussie Adventures are inspired by my daughter, Elliot, who is an Australian-born girl with a spirit of adventure and exploration,” she admitted.

“But, I’m thrilled the concept’s been so well-received.

Ella Arrives in Australia will be available in both paperback and hardback on all major online retailers.”

Pre-orders are now accessible on Ella’s Aussie Adventures website www.ellasaussieadventures.com.au

Sheree previously self-published teen fantasy novel, Resistance, under her maiden name Brugel.
