New partnership provides ‘home away from home’ for families with sick kids

A new collaboration between two well-known local organisations is set to support families, with a seriously-ill or injured child, for the next three years.

Raine & Horne Newcastle has teamed up with Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) NNSW to help alleviate some of the stress for parents and carers in their time of need.

And, to launch the partnership, the real estate agency will donate 10% of its sales commission for any sold residential properties that list with the team between 1 April and 30 June.

Raine & Horne Newcastle managing director Cody Bice was thrilled to form an alliance with RMHC NNSW.

“We felt joining forces with them would be the perfect way to launch our agency,” he explained.

“They do wonderful things to make the lives of families as comfortable as possible.

“We are very proud to support RHMC NNSW and can’t wait for our partnership to grow over the course of the next three years.”

In excess of 1,000 families utilised Ronald McDonald House Newcastle in 2021 so they could be near their child in hospital, while the Family Rooms at John Hunter Children’s Hospital provided a venue to unwind and take a break.

But, it’s more than just a place to stay or hang out.

Ronald McDonald House Newcastle and the Family Rooms also offer meals, family activities, peer support, resources for siblings, respite, laundry facilities and many other services to care for families with ill or injured children.

RMHC NNSW CEO Ross Bingham said he was delighted to unite with Raine & Horne Newcastle.

“As a community-owned and operated charity, we rely on many people’s generosity,” he admitted.

“So, we are extremely grateful to Raine & Horne Newcastle coming on board to help us continue to provide the vital services families require during some of their darkest moments.”
