How rad is this… a pump track, half pipe, volcano and grind rail?
They are just some of the features of the new skate park in Largs.
After being designed and developed in consultation with the local community, the township now boasts a $754,000 facility to rival others in the Maitland LGA.
And, thanks to funding from the Australian Government’s Local Roads and Community Infrastructure (LRCI) program, it’s also complemented by two new large shade shelters, seating, bins and drinking fountains.
Maitland City mayor Philip Penfold was thrilled with the finished product.
“This upgrade is a major improvement on the former skate park,” he said.
“It will provide a recreation space for kids and families living in Bolwarra, Largs and surrounding communities for many years to come.
“We’re proud to deliver this facility for Maitland and we look forward to seeing it put to good use.
“Thank you to everyone who provided feedback both by completing our survey and visiting us at our at our pop-ups during phases one and two of engagement.”
The existing skate park, which remained open during construction, will now be demolished.
Two more are also in the pipeline at Gillieston Heights and Thornton.
