New competition to get kids moving

If you’re looking for something to keep the kids active and outdoors these school holidays, look no further.

With kids’ sport preparing to kick-off again, the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility is hosting its inaugural Fast Five5 One-Dayer.

The event is open to 40 teams, with the five-a-side tournament taking teams with a maximum of eight players aged eight to nine, or 10-11 years.

Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility Venue Manager Kean Marshall said the event was the perfect way to satisfy young players’ hunger for football, given the long break they’ve faced with COVID-19.

“What better way for kids to get back into the action and return to football,” Marshall said.

“Football Five5 is fast and exciting, but most importantly, fun.”

The competition will be held on Thursday 16 July, starting at 9.30am and finishing at 2.30pm.

Cost is $200 per team.
