Well-respected television presenter Natasha Beyersdorf is set to head up NBN News’ new-look weekly bulletins.
Following the departure of Jane Goldsmith on Thursday night, WIN Network announced its line-up as part of the company’s restructure of the local service.
From Monday 29 June, at 5.30pm, NBN News will transition to a dedicated half-hour, program each weeknight, followed by Nine News at 6pm and A Current Affair at 7pm.
Ms Beyersdorf, the station’s newsreader since 2001, retains her role, alongside journalists Adam Murray (sport) and Cessnock’s Lauren Kempe (weather).
“This new format will give viewers across Northern NSW an extended premium 120 minutes of purely local, national and international news and current affairs,” a WIN Network spokesperson said.
“Reinforcing our commitment to local audiences, we recognise how crucial weather updates are to daily life.
“The NBN News 5.30pm weeknight bulletins will now feature a dedicated weather presenter delivering comprehensive, up-to-date forecasts and information.
“No other broadcaster invests more in Australian regional news than the WIN Network.
“Demonstrating an unmatched commitment to giving regional communities a voice, we’ll also construct a state-of-the-art control room in Newcastle.
“It’s a move that firmly cements our investment in offering an authentic, 100% locally-produced bulletin presented from the Newcastle studios.
“NBN News will continue its commitment to the community through the local stories covered, the worthwhile causes supported, the awareness generated and the strong partnerships built over more than six decades.”
Ms Goldsmith was gracious in signing off after an illustrious career at the station.
“I’m grateful to have worked alongside an outstanding team, past and present, bringing you the local stories that matter,” she said.
“My colleagues and dear friends will continue to do that – please continue to support them.
“25 years on the road in the Hunter and behind the desk… and I’ve loved every minute of it.”
