Time is running out for residents to have their say on Muswellbrook Shire Council’s 2026/2027 Draft Operational Plan.
Councillors recently endorsed the blueprint, for a period of public exhibition, which will guide the organisation over the upcoming financial year.
The strategy was prepared to outline the key deliverables required to achieve the community’s long-term vision, as set out in the Community Strategic Plan.
It also details the actions Muswellbrook Shire will undertake and also incorporates council’s proposed budget, revenue policy and schedule of fees and charges.
General manager Derek Finnigan stated the Operational Plan offered a clear and practical roadmap for its day-to-day operations.
“It sets targeted deliverables and maps the course council will take to achieve its priorities,” he said.
“It’s the framework we use for our daily operations… a tangible document that influences decision-making and keeps us accountable to our community.”
He noted Muswellbrook Shire was reviewing its organisational structure to ensure it aligned with delivering its strategic objectives.
“We’re proactively assessing how we operate to ensure we remain efficient, resilient and equipped to meet the evolving needs of our community in a changing economic environment,” Mr Finnigan said.
Mayor Jeff Drayton encouraged locals to provide input, too.
“This is a valuable opportunity for our community to help shape the direction of the shire,” he said.
“It is important that we hear from our residents.
“Your feedback ensures our plans reflect what matters most to the people we serve.”
Community members are urged to review the draft documents and provide feedback before close of business on 28 May.
