Muswellbrook Hospital’s redevelopment has reached another milestone, with construction of a new Community Health space now complete.
The facility is part of the NSW Government’s $45 million Muswellbrook Hospital Redevelopment Stage 3 and will provide a range of healthcare services for residents across the Upper Hunter.
Once operational, the new space will offer nursing care, child and family health services, and allied health support.
Located within the hospital, it includes new consultation and treatment rooms designed to improve patient access and strengthen links between community and hospital-based care.
Community Health services are expected to relocate to the new facility in the coming weeks from the Wiedmann Wing.
Health services will continue to operate during the move to minimise disruption for patients.
The completion of the Community Health space follows the opening of the hospital’s new operating theatres earlier this year, with work on a new sterilisation department expected to begin in 2027.
Regional Health Minister Ryan Park said the new facility would improve access to essential healthcare for the community.
“These integrated health services will help ensure people have access to child and family services, nursing care and allied health services more conveniently and closer to home,” he said.
“It’s fantastic to see the Muswellbrook Hospital Redevelopment reach another important milestone, which has delivered a contemporary new community healthcare space.”
Stage 3 of the Muswellbrook Hospital Redevelopment is part of the NSW Government’s nearly $3 billion investment in regional hospitals and health facilities over the next four years.
Executive Director of Infrastructure, Planning and Sustainability John Barnard-Richardson said staff were looking forward to moving into the new facility.
“This new modern space will be great for our staff to provide important health services for our patients,” he said.
“I know hospital staff are excited to move into their future workspace and deliver care in a brand new modern clinical environment.”
